Bílý Újezd

A village at the foot of the Milešovka group, first recorded in 1276, with a preserved Gothic stronghold of the Kaplíř family — a waypoint on the walking routes from Velemín.

Bílý Újezd sits a kilometre east of Velemín under Liščí vrch, on the routes that work their way from the Velemín basin up towards Milešovka. First recorded in 1276, the village kept something rare: its Gothic tvrz — a small fortified manor founded in the 14th century as a seat of the Kaplíř of Sulevice family, later held by the Libštejnský of Kolovrat, Valdštejn and Černín families. Two buildings with Gothic cores and fragments of Renaissance decoration survive among the farmyards and are protected as a cultural monument.

There are no services here — for a shop or a pub drop back down to Velemín — but the village green with the stronghold is a worthwhile few minutes on the way to the hills.
