A 20.2 km winter pub-quest along the Berounka — Srbsko to Tetín's cliffs, a brewery stop in Beroun, the Děd lookout hill, and dinner at Zastávka Nižbor.

A winter classic of ours, engineered backwards from dinner: the Zastávka Nižbor pub is the destination, and everything before it is the justification. It is a walk for the cold months — the stops are warm, the distance is modest, and with a station at each end nobody has to drive home from a day built around beer.

From Srbsko station the path climbs onto the limestone rim and into Tetín, where St Ludmila met her end in 921 and the cliff edge looks back down the Berounka gorge. The descent into Beroun follows, with the town’s gothic gates and — more to the point in December — the Berounský medvěd brewery for a warming taster.

Beroun is also where the landscape switches: the route crosses the river out of the Český kras and climbs through the woods to Děd, the KČT’s first-ever lookout tower (closed for repairs in recent years, but the hill remains the honest climb of the day). From there it is rolling Křivoklátsko forest down to Nižbor and the old railway hut of the Zastávka pub — beers, dinner, and the train home from the halt next door.

On the way

  • Tetín

    village

A village on the cliffs above the Berounka where Bohemia's history begins — the Přemyslid stronghold where St Ludmila was murdered in 921, with three churches and castle remains on the edge of the gorge.

  • Beroun

    village

A royal town at the meeting of the Berounka and the Litavka, between Český kras and Křivoklátsko — two gothic town gates, a walkable old core, and the Berounský medvěd brewery.

  • Děd

    lookout tower 492 m

The oldest tourist lookout tower in Bohemia — the KČT's first, a 12-metre stone tower of 1893 on the wooded hill above Beroun; closed for repairs since 2022.

  • Nižbor

    village

A Berounka village below a chateau with a Celtic exposition — the great Stradonice oppidum on the plateau above minted gold coins here two thousand years before the Rückl glassworks by the station.
