Varhošť

A 639 m summit above the right bank of the Labe with a steel lookout tower from 1973 — a full-circle view of the Středohoří from Hazmburk to Milešovka and the Krušné hory wall.

Varhošť is the highest point of the hills wedged between the Labe and the Ploskovice country, and one of the range’s oldest viewpoints — the Litoměřice mountain association built a wooden platform in the crowns of five oaks here as early as 1891. Today’s tower is a 15 m steel cylinder from 1973, recently renovated, free and always open; 68 steps lead to the top platform.

The reward is a genuine full circle: Milešovka and Kletečná west, Lovoš and Hazmburk south, the Labe valley winding below and the whole Krušné hory ridge on the northern horizon. The usual approaches climb from Sebuzín’s rail halt on the river or from Hlinná and the Litoměřice side.
