Milešovka from Teplice

A 23 km alternative approach to Milešovka. From Teplice on the red waymark over the ridges, blue to the summit, dinner at the Velemín motorest.

Everyone climbs Milešovka from Velemín or Milešov. This is the long way in, good for a second or third visit. You start a whole ridge system away in Teplice, and you watch the highest mountain of the Středohoří come closer for half a day.

From Teplice station the red waymark leads south out of the spa town and over the wooded ridges and saddles of Lbín, Hradiště and Mošnov. The summit weather observatory appears and disappears ahead. At Černčice the blue waymark takes over for the summit. The final climb is steep from every side, and in February there can be ice near the top. The summit is the windiest place in Bohemia. It has the observatory tower, and the horizon runs from the Krušné hory to Říp.

The descent drops south to Velemín, where the motorest by the road serves dinner and beer after the summit. The easiest way back to Prague is the bus from Velemín to Lovosice and then the direct train. The walked track continues a short way further to Bílý Újezd.
