Svatobor to Kašperk

A 31.3 km two-day autumn čundr in the Šumava foothills — Svatobor's tower and hut, a night in Sušice, then the red waymark over Sedlo to Kašperk and Kašperské Hory.
The train drops you at the tiny Mokrosuky stop and the bus brings you home from Kašperské Hory; in between, the plan is a čundr with a bed — a full day of walking either side of a town night in Sušice. The thousand metres of climbing spread out gently, and every high point on the route carries either a tower or a castle.
Day 1 — Mokrosuky to Sušice
From the Mokrosuky stop the way heads south through Kašovice and Hrádek, then takes on Svatobor — the long forest climb tops out at the 1934 lookout tower, and the little pub in the hut at its foot is exactly the right reward: autumn Šumava colours from the gallery, Šumava cooking below it. The day ends with the short descent into Sušice for dinner and a bed in town.
Day 2 — Sušice over Sedlo to Kašperské Hory
The red waymark leaves Sušice and climbs steadily to Sedlo, the Celtic hillfort summit with its seven-sided tower — quieter than anything comparable in the mountains proper. The ridge country beyond leads through Žlíbek to Kašperk. The castle deserves its reputation, but do not skip Pustý hrádek, the ruined outwork along the ridge — the view of Kašperk from its rocks is the best there is. The final stretch drops through Kavrlík into Kašperské Hory and the bus home.
