Sedlo u Albrechtic

lookout tower · 902 m · Šumava

A 902 m summit of the Šumava foothills with a Celtic hillfort and a heptagonal timber lookout tower of 2009 — 138 steps to a circular panorama of the Šumava and the inland country.

Sedlo stands apart from the main Šumava tourist country, which keeps it quiet: a 902 m summit above Albrechtice that carried a Celtic hillfort two thousand years ago and a military observation post in the 20th century. Since December 2009 it carries a lookout tower whose seven-sided plan nods to Celtic patterns — 27.7 m tall, 138 steps, free to climb — with a circular panorama that pairs the Šumava wall to the south with the rolling inland country to the north. The red-marked trail crosses the summit.
