The Hřebeny Above Prague

A 25.1 km walk along the Hřebeny ridge just outside Prague — Černolické skály, the leaning Korunka tower and baroque Skalka, from Klínec to Zadní Třebaň.

Both ends sit on railway lines out of Prague — train to the Klínec stop on the way out, trains home from Zadní Třebaň — so the one-way walk needs nothing more than a timetable. Between the stations the way keeps mostly to the wooded ridge, dropping to the Berounka valley only at the very end.

From the Klínec stop the way heads west to Černolice. Just behind the village rise the Černolické skály, quartzite crags with an open view over the Berounka lowland, and half an hour on the Korunka tower adds the long-range version of the same view — climbing its 118 steps is free. The route then settles onto the wooded Hřebeny ridge, quiet kilometres of forest road with the occasional glimpse south into the Brdy.

Just past half-way the trail dips to Skalka above Mníšek pod Brdy. The baroque chapel, monastery and hermitage are strung along the spur, and the refreshment cabin by the church is the one reliable stop on the route — a good place to break before the final wooded stretch. From Skalka the way returns to the ridge and descends through Halouny to Zadní Třebaň in the Berounka valley, where trains run back towards Prague.
