Downhill to the Mělník Vineyards

An easy 21.2 km downhill drift from Mšeno through the southern Kokořínsko — beer at U Grobiána, the Harasov pond, and vineyards into Mělník.

From Mšeno the whole way trends downhill toward the Labe, with almost no climbing to speak of. That makes it a relaxed, spring-afternoon sort of walk: sandstone lanes and rock country in the first half, open fields and vineyards in the second.

The green waymark leaves Mšeno westward to Sedlec, where U Grobiána provides the traditional early beer, and continues past Kanina toward the plateau rim at Hradsko, the old hillfort site above the valley junction. The descent into the lower Kokořínský důl passes Harasov, where the pond lies flat under its sandstone cliff — the ruin above it was once a fashionable interwar hotel.

From Harasov the way runs down the valley to Lhotka u Mělníka and out of the sandstone country; the last kilometres cross open fields and drop through the vineyards into Mělník, with the confluence view from the château terrace as the finishing move and the station ten minutes on.
