Strašice
village · Brdy
A former garrison village on the western Brdy edge — accommodation, food and a museum of the Central Brdy in the old barracks, the natural overnight before a crossing.
Strašice stretched along the Klabava stream is the western gateway to the Brdy: for decades a garrison village serving the military area, and since the army left, the keeper of its memory — the Museum of the Central Brdy occupies part of the former barracks, covering the region’s nature and its military century. For a walker the practical side matters most: pubs, a shop and places to sleep, the last of all three before the long forest crossing towards Příbram.
The marked routes into the hills leave straight from the village — towards Padrťské ponds, Tok and the radar summit of Praha.
