Praha (Brdy)

The second-highest summit of the Brdy at 862 m, wearing the white ball of the national weather radar on a 56 m tower — a forest summit with a landmark visible for half of Bohemia.

Praha is the Brdy’s second summit — 862 m, a shade under Tok — and its most recognisable one: the white sphere of the meteorological radar, mounted on a 56 m concrete tower built in 1999, shows on the horizon from an astonishing share of central Bohemia. Up close the compound is fenced and the summit itself has no view; like most Brdy tops, the reward is the approach — long forest roads, frost-broken rock fields, and in winter a plateau that holds snow better than anywhere this close to the capital.

The trails pass just under the radar on the crossing between the Strašice side and Příbram; the name, inevitably, produces the local joke that you can walk from Prague to Praha.
