Javořice

The highest point of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands at 837 m — a forested summit with a TV mast and no view; the panorama waits at Míchova skála nearby.

Javořice is the roof of the Českomoravská vrchovina — 837 m — and an honest lesson in highland summits: the top is forested, occupied by a television mast, and offers no view at all. The reward of the climb is the country on the way — spruce woods full of granite blocks, the Velký Pařezitý pond below, and the Studánka Páně spring with its wooden chapel on the northern slope, a traditional pilgrimage spot.

For the panorama, walk the green-marked 1.7 km to Míchova skála, whose granite towers see over the trees. The usual bases are Řásná to the east and the Telč side generally; the summit makes most sense woven into a crossing rather than as a destination in itself.
