From Peruc to the Spa

A 28.5 km walk through the low country south of the Ohře — Peruc, the little Stradonka lookout with its Hazmburk view, Libochovice château and a spa-village finish at Mšené-lázně.

Both ends sit on the railway — you can arrive at Peruc by train and leave from the stop at Mšené-lázně — so the logistics take care of themselves. The walking in between is gentle: field tracks and quiet lanes through the farm country between the Ohře and Říp, with small rewards spaced along the way rather than climbs to earn.

Peruc itself deserves a look around before you leave — especially the baroque church that crowns the village. From there the way drops north to Stradonice and the Stradonka lookout: six metres of timber on a Celtic rampart, and the day’s best view, with Hazmburk and the western Středohoří lined up across the Ohře. The path then follows the river country east into Libochovice — the practical midpoint, with a few pubs and shops to restock, and the château and its park if you have time to spare.

Beyond Libochovice the route crosses the Ohře at Kostelec and climbs gently away from the river through Brníkov — the only real ascent of the day — before dropping into Mšené-lázně, where the Art Nouveau spa pavilion and the railway stop close the walk.
