Žižkova mohyla

A 14.7 m stone cairn topped by a Hussite chalice at Žižkovo Pole, raised in 1874 to Antonín Wiehl's design on the spot where Jan Žižka is said to have died in 1424.

The mound marks the traditional spot where Jan Žižka, the undefeated Hussite commander, died of illness on 11 October 1424 while besieging nearby Přibyslav — tradition says in the arms of Michal Koudele of Žitenice, though the exact place is disputed. The monument itself came in 1874, designed by Antonín Wiehl: a 14.7 m stone cairn crowned with a two-metre stone chalice, standing alone among the fields of Žižkovo Pole.
