Vráž
village · Písecko
A spa village north of Písek — a neo-Gothic Lobkowicz chateau turned sanatorium in a landscape park, with traditional village architecture in Stará Vráž.
Vráž is a small spa village in the woods seven kilometres north of Písek. Between Stará and Nová Vráž the Lobkowicz family built a neo-Gothic chateau in 1868–75 (rebuilt after an 1881 fire) as a summer and hunting seat, surrounded by a landscape park; it became a sanatorium in 1936 and operates as the Vráž spa today. The older part of the village, Stará Vráž, keeps its traditional rural architecture.
