Stvolínky

A village at the western end of the Holany ponds with a Renaissance-Baroque chateau, once the summer seat of the Litoměřice bishops. Railway stop on the Lovosice–Česká Lípa line.

Stvolínky sits where the Holany pond country meets the eastern edge of the České středohoří. The village grew around a Gothic stronghold that was rebuilt into a four-winged Renaissance chateau with arcaded courtyard, later given a Baroque face; from the mid-17th century it served as the summer residence of the bishops of Litoměřice. The chateau is not regularly open — it can be visited only during occasional events.

For hikers the village matters mainly as a transport point: the Stvolínky railway stop on the Lovosice–Česká Lípa line lies about a kilometre from the village and makes a convenient start for walks to Ronov, the Holany ponds or Vlhošť.
