The little town at the foot of Velký Blaník — the natural lunch stop of any Blaník walk, and the birthplace of the baroque composer Jan Dismas Zelenka.
Louňovice sits directly under Velký Blaník, where the farmland ends and the wooded twin hills begin. A memorial plaque commemorates Jan Dismas Zelenka, the great baroque composer, who was born here in 1679.
For hikers it is the practical base of the Blaníks: restaurants, a shop, and the trailheads for both summits within a few minutes of the square.

A train-to-train day over both Blaník hills: red waymarks from Domašín to Louňovice, the chapel ruin on Malý Blaník, the lookout tower on Velký, and a walk down through Kondrac to Vlašim.
