An old tin-mining town under the Krušné hory scarp — its mining landscape is UNESCO-listed, and the Bohosudov quarter holds the pilgrimage basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Krupka mined tin for some eight hundred years, and the slopes above the long, narrow old town are so dense with medieval and early-modern mine workings that the Krupka mining landscape was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2019 as part of the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region. Down in the Bohosudov quarter stands the other pole of the town’s history: the pilgrimage basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows with its former Jesuit residence, a Baroque complex grown from the Jesuits’ arrival in 1652.
The town is the natural finish for walks off the eastern ridge — Bohosudov has a railway stop — and a chairlift runs from Krupka up to Komáří vížka on the crest for those doing it the easy way round.

The Border Ridge to Krupka
A 30 km ridge walk along the eastern Krušné hory from Hrob over Bouřňák and border-straddling Cínovec down to Krupka-Bohosudov.
