Kravaře

A village below Ronov hill with the Vísecká rychta — the largest timber-framed farmhouse in Bohemia, now a folk-housing museum — and the U Doušů pub. Railway halt on the Česká Lípa–Litoměřice line.

Kravaře sits in the Bobří potok valley under the north side of Ronov. The village’s showpiece is the Vísecká rychta in its Víska quarter: built in 1797 for the magistrate Václav Kerner, it is the largest timber-framed residential building in Bohemia, with an attic once used for drying hops. Since 1986 it has housed a museum of folk architecture and housing in northern Bohemia, including a collection of painted furniture.

For hikers the practical stop is the U Doušů pub on the Úštěk road — straightforward Czech cooking and Svijany beer in an ordinary village taproom that fills up at lunchtime. The railway halt on the Česká Lípa–Litoměřice line is below the village.
