Ronov

A conical basalt hill (552 m) between Kravaře and Blíževedly, topped by the ruin of a 14th-century castle of the Ronovec family, burned down by Swedish troops in the Thirty Years' War.

Ronov is one of the most distinctive silhouettes of the area — a steep basalt cone rising to 552 m between Kravaře and Blíževedly. The castle on top was founded in the 14th century by the widespread Ronovec family (probably the lords of Klinštejn); the first written records date from the 15th century, when Vilém of Ilburk rebuilt it. During the Thirty Years’ War, Swedish troops burned it down after finding villagers sheltering inside with their possessions, and it has been a ruin since. Fragments of walls survive around the summit.
