Doerellova vyhlídka

viewpoint · České středohoří

A painter's viewpoint on the rim above the Labe near Dubičky — named for E. G. Doerell, who kept returning to paint the river's meander through the hills.

The 19th-century painter Ernst Gustav Doerell walked these rims with an easel, and the lookout that carries his name shows why: from the edge above Dubice the Labe lies below in a full meander, cutting through the Středohoří with Deblík, Varhošť, Lovoš and the Kamýk ruin arranged around it — a composition straight off one of his canvases. The spot sits on the yellow-marked rim path near Dubičky, one of a string of viewpoints along this edge.
