Looking for Levín
České středohoří , CHKO České středohoří , Point to point , hiked August 2024
A 17.4 km loop from Úštěk over the hills to the small former town of Levín and back through Starý Týn.
This is a rest-day loop from a base in Úštěk. I walked it when I knew the area well and still wanted to find something new. It is under twenty kilometres, needs no logistics, and Levín in the middle was new to me.

From the edge of Úštěk the route climbs north-west through Dolní and Horní Vysoké into the hills above the town. Levín is the destination, a tiny former town on a knoll. Most hikers pass by without turning in. Turn in.

The return leg goes east through Dolní Bukovina and Starý Týn, rolling orchard-and-field country with the Úštěk church tower in view most of the way back. The loop closes at Lhota by the town’s edge, with Úštěk’s pubs and the lake for the evening.
