Into the Aš Promontory

A 12.8 km point-to-point hike through the Ašsko borderland woods from Hazlov to Aš.

This is a short, easy half-day through the Ašsko promontory, where Bohemia narrows to a wooded strip with Germany on both sides. It suits a late start or an autumn afternoon. Both ends are on the same railway line, so logistics take care of themselves.

Have a look at the castle and church in Hazlov before you set out. From the stop the route joins the blue-marked long-distance trail that runs the length of the promontory from Cheb. It follows the trail northwest through gently rising woods and meadows, past Skalka and through Mokřiny, into Aš. Take a walk around the town, and if you have an hour to spare, climb to the Háj lookout tower above town before the train back.
