From Peruc to the Spa

A 28.5 km walk through the low country south of the Ohře. It goes from Peruc over the little Stradonka lookout with its Hazmburk view and past Libochovice château to a spa-village finish at Mšené-lázně.

Both ends sit on the railway. You arrive at Peruc by train and leave from the stop at Mšené-lázně, so the logistics take care of themselves. The walking in between is gentle. You follow field tracks and quiet lanes through the farm country between the Ohře and Říp, with small sights spaced along the way instead of climbs.

Have a look around Peruc before you leave, especially the baroque church that stands over the village. From there the way drops north to Stradonice and the Stradonka lookout. From its platform you see Hazmburk and the western Středohoří lined up across the Ohře. The path then follows the river country east into Libochovice, the practical midpoint. Restock at one of its pubs and shops, and walk through the château park if you have time to spare.

Beyond Libochovice the route crosses the Ohře at Kostelec and climbs gently away from the river through Brníkov. That is the only real ascent of the day. Then it drops into Mšené-lázně, where the walk ends at the Art Nouveau spa pavilion and the railway stop.
