Žákova hora

An 810 m summit of the Žďárské vrchy carrying a primeval beech forest protected since 1933 — with the Stříbrná studánka spring, one of the sources of the Svratka, on its slope.

Žákova hora (810 m) is where the Žďárské vrchy show what they looked like before people: the summit carries a primeval forest of beech and sycamore maple with scattered fir and spruce, left to develop without intervention and protected as a nature reserve since 1933 — one of the country’s oldest, established with the support of the estate’s then owner, Count Zdenko Radslav Kinský. There is no summit view; the forest itself is the sight. On the slope lies the Stříbrná studánka, a stone-set spring counted among the sources of the Svratka, and the ridge educational trail connects the hill with Tisůvka.
