A small town below the Doupovské hory whose Romanesque church of St James the Greater, built 1155–1200, is one of the best-preserved in the region — with a railway station for the trip home.
Vroutek is a small town in the open country east of the Doupovské hory, and its one sight is worth the detour: the church of St James the Greater, a Romanesque gallery church built between 1155 and 1200 as part of a fortified seat of the Hrabiš family. The single nave of red sandstone blocks, the semi-circular apse and the four-storey west tower make it one of the best-preserved Romanesque buildings in the wider region; it is owned by the town and protected as a cultural monument.
The railway station connects towards Podbořany and Žatec, which makes Vroutek a natural end point for a walk out of the Doupovské hory.
