Tři křížky is the emblem of the open heart of the Slavkovský les: three stone crosses raised in 1849 in thanksgiving for a spa cure, standing on a low bare hill of serpentinite among meadows. The rock is the point as much as the crosses — the Mnichovo serpentinites weather into soil so hostile that ordinary plants give up, and specialists take over, including Cerastium alsinifolium, an endemic chickweed that grows here and nowhere else in the world. The knoll itself has been a national nature monument since 1962 and is fenced off to protect the flora, but the marked trail passes close enough for the crosses and their horizon to make the classic Slavkovský les picture.
