A table hill above Police nad Metují with two rock labyrinths and the Sluj Českých bratří — the cave where the Bohemian Brethren hid after White Mountain.
Ostaš is the outlier of the Broumovsko sandstones: a flat-topped table hill of 700 m standing alone above Police nad Metují, protected as a nature reserve. Its plateau rim carries an upper rock labyrinth of towers and viewpoints; on the slope below sits the lower labyrinth with the Kočičí skály (“cat rocks”), and between them hides the Sluj Českých bratří — the crevice-cave where members of the Unity of the Brethren sheltered from persecution after the Battle of White Mountain, still entered by the same tight squeeze.
A marked loop from the parking meadow does the circuit in a couple of hours; walkers crossing from the Broumovské stěny usually take it on the way down to the rail stop at Žďár nad Metují.
