Milá

A solitary bell-shaped steppe cone in the far south-west of the Středohoří — a nature reserve of pheasant's eye and feather grass, with a reintroduced ground-squirrel colony since 2019.

Milá stands alone in the open south-western corner of the České středohoří: a bell-shaped cone of olivine nephelinite rising straight from the fields, its slopes a nature reserve running from bare rock through steppe grass to oak wood. Spring is its season — pheasant’s eye flowers gold across the slopes, with feather grass and st bernard’s lily following — and since 2019 the hill hosts a reintroduced colony of the European ground squirrel, one of the country’s most endangered mammals. The summit view belongs to the Louny steppe country: Raná, Oblík and the line of cones marching east.
