Brocno

A village heritage zone on the ridge between the Labe plain and the Kokořínsko — folk architecture around a broad green, on record since 1357 when it belonged to the new Charles University.

Brocno sits on the gentle ridge where the Labe plain tips over into the broken sandstone country of the Kokořínsko, and it has kept the shape and substance of an old farming village better than almost any of its neighbours: timber-framed and log houses around the green, protected together as a village heritage zone. The first written record is from 1357, when the village was assigned to the newly founded Charles University in Prague. There is nothing to “visit” — the village itself is the sight, best walked through slowly.
